Learning numbers and counting fun

Today I gout out Selah's number puzzle and we worked on identifying each number.  After she did that I got out a yummy snack, yogurt covered raisins, and I had her counting them out next to the number she grabbed.  She did very well but sometimes she seemed to get lazy and just grab them and say the number instead of counting them one by one.  I think she will ask to do this again and next time I can make it more difficult too.  If she was older we could work on adding and subtracting too! :)

I enjoyed our little lesson today!  How are you teaching numbers and counting?

I love using food for math - the kids do seem to enjoy it and it's a great way to learn bc it utilizes counting, hands-on manipulation and snacks, yum!!

Another great thing she might enjoy is making a number book with stickers! Each page can have a number and she has to count the stickers to put them on the pages or you can even use stamps, things stamped in paint or dot markers. So many ways to get her counting and recognizing the numbers.

Thanks for linking up to the Sunday Showcase - can't wait to see what other fun ideas you link up this week! See you tonight for an all new linky party!!
