Hey Parents and Teachers if you have not heard of Shoulder Buddies you are missing out.  This great tool can be used for enforcing good behaviors at home or in the classroom.

The Product

Shoulder Buddies are collectible friends that kids love to wear! But they're more than just cute... each Shoulder Buddies "Smarts" character teaches kids a special life lesson, from Friendship to Fire Safety. The Magical Coin lets kids wear Shoulder Buddies on their shirt, hat, hair and more! Kids can take Shoulder Buddies and their "Smarts" with them wherever they go!

The Story

The Shoulder Buddy Smarts come from a magical wishing star, and inside that star is the Land of Understand. Shoulder Buddies go to the "School of Smarts" so they can earn their Fluffles on top of their head to fly. Once they have learned their "Smarts" they fly down from the Land of Understand and look for a Buddy to journey with and share their "Smarts".
Just call us Shoulder Buddies from the Land of Understand,

Breezin' through the skies, looking to land.

Each one of us has a special "Smart,"
A wonderful message that comes from our heart.
We want to share our "Smarts" with you,
So you can reveal your "Smarts" too!
Take us along everywhere you go...
On your shoulders, hair and hats you know!
Collect us, trade us, and give us a home!
Let's journey together... wherever you roam!

My Review
The first thing my daughter did was ask to get the buddies out.  So we immediately put them on her shoulder and she loved them.  Putting the Shoulder Buddies on was very simple but if you need more information you can look at the attaching Shoulder Buddy web page.  As a parent I was more interested in reading the book and finding more about each character.  Our Characters were Biffle- Friendship Smarts, Breezee's- Frustration Smarts, and a Holiday one named Flurry- Giving Smarts.    I really like how these Shoulder Buddies can be used as a reinforcement of positive behaviors.  I think young children will learn positive behaviors and be excited to show them so they could wear the Buddy.  :) The website has some fun games and you can create your own buddy by designing all the colors, naming, and describing the "smart."
This would make a fun Christmas gift for your little ones or a great gift to a teacher!  :) :)

"The Reading Game" Review and Giveaway

Description: The first book in  The Reading Game  learn-to-read series tells the story of a skunk without a stripe who is rejected by the other skunks but finds acceptance among some cats and becomes their defender.  It’s told in rhyme, is beautifully illustrated, and is 32 pages long.  It will be the first book the student reads, and there are five more to follow in this groundbreaking learn to read program. Each of The Reading Game's six stories is told using just thirty new words.  These are broken down into six sets of five words.  The student learns to read each set of five words by playing a simple word matching game.  Frequent exposure through play hard wires these words into long-term memory.  Rote learning is transformed into a fast-paced game with a winner every few seconds. After completing Skunk, Game 1, the student has learned five words (can, cat, is, me, not).  Playing Game 2 adds an additional five w...

Book Review: "God I feel Scared"

Kids have big feelings, but none of their feelings are too big for God. In this picture book from licensed counselor Michelle Nietert and Tama Fortner, young readers will explore what it means to feel scared and discover how to manage their emotions in a healthy way. Scared is a feeling that can be hard to face, but if we listen to it, we can learn things about ourselves. In  God, I Feel Scared , children will discover that it’s okay to be scared and that God is with us in all things, including fear. With simple, accessible text, scared becomes an emotion that kids don’t need to avoid and instead something they can use to better understand themselves and grow closer to God. The bright, emotive art by Nomar Perez will draw kids in, and a note in the back provides tips and techniques parents and caregivers can use to help young children process their feelings in a beneficial way. God, I Feel Scared  teaches kids ages 4 to 8 how to: Identify the feeling of fear and recognize thin...
