Veggietales Veggie Town Voyage 3 books in 1 Review

Beloved VeggieTales Characters Enrich Young Readers with Their Own Spin on Three Classics in a New Collection
Junior Asparagus, Laura Carrot, and many other VeggieTales characters return with three popular adventure-filled stories by Cindy Kenney packed into one colorful new book, VEGGIETOWN VOYAGE (Zonderkidz; $7.99; February 2013).

With an added emphasis on strong Christian values, the stories recall a classic television show (Lost in Space) and two iconic movies, (Cool Hand Luke and Ben-Hur), with each told in child-friendly text.

My Review:
I adore finding books that are filled with valuable lessons and Biblical teachings.  Veggietales does a great job of delivering that in their story books.

These three stories include wonderful artwork and have a lot of humor for children and adults alike.  :)

The first story teaches a lesson about never being lost because God is always with us!  What a great lesson for kids to learn and to help them in any situation to overcome fear and anxiety.

The second story truly is inspiring!  The story takes you from watching Junior working because he wants to be rich to working to be a blessing.  AWESOME because we truly will have fortune in heaven by blessing other here on earth.

The last story focuses on patience, something that is typically hard for most children, okay most people!  It may be hard to exercise patience but God truly will gift us patience when we need it!

My five year old was able to understand these stories and enjoy them but they were a bit too long for my near 2 year old.  I suggest the appropriate age to be 4-10 year old's.

"The Reading Game" Review and Giveaway

Description: The first book in  The Reading Game  learn-to-read series tells the story of a skunk without a stripe who is rejected by the other skunks but finds acceptance among some cats and becomes their defender.  It’s told in rhyme, is beautifully illustrated, and is 32 pages long.  It will be the first book the student reads, and there are five more to follow in this groundbreaking learn to read program. Each of The Reading Game's six stories is told using just thirty new words.  These are broken down into six sets of five words.  The student learns to read each set of five words by playing a simple word matching game.  Frequent exposure through play hard wires these words into long-term memory.  Rote learning is transformed into a fast-paced game with a winner every few seconds. After completing Skunk, Game 1, the student has learned five words (can, cat, is, me, not).  Playing Game 2 adds an additional five words (sad, she, stay, this, with). The s
