Kids Fashion: Finding The Perfect Balance Between Style & Practicality

Parenthood throws a lot of challenges at you; there’s no doubt about that. From getting your little ones to eat their greens to preventing them from using their crayons on the walls, every day of motherhood brings a new challenge.

Something that a lot of parents struggle with is kid’s fashion because finding the perfect balance between style and practicality isn’t always easy. In fact, for the most part, it can be a real struggle. Although it can be hard finding the perfect balance, the good news is that it is possible to get it right, it just takes a little inspiration and smart thinking, that's all.

Below is a list of tips and ideas for making kid’s fashion much easier to navigate, allowing you to dress your little ones both stylishly and practically.

Get inspired

The first step is to get inspired. One of the best ways to do that is to read the magazines that stores create with their children’s fashion collections for the season in them. Admittedly, many of the items shown in these won’t be practical as well as fashionable, but some will be, so it’s worth taking the time and effort to have a flick through. Pinterest is also another fantastic resource for getting inspired when it comes to your little one's wardrobes. Any ideas that you think are smart, stylish and practical, pin to a board or screenshot so that you can refer to them again later on.

Make denim your go-to

This may sound like a strange one, but here me out. Denim is an incredibly versatile material that’s also very strong, meaning that it tends to wear incredibly well, making it perfect for little ones. Aim to fill your children’s wardrobes with at least four or five denim items, including jeans, shorts, skirts, dungarees, and dresses. Although quality denim can be expensive, you can often get a discount if you look online or if you take advantage of coupons, such as coupons for Walmart, for instance.

Invest in quality shoes

Shoes can be hard to get right when it comes to dressing kids because they need to be comfortable, practical, and smart. The key to success here is to invest in branded shoes, such as Converse, for instance, as by opting for branded shoes, casual designs can look somewhat smart - the power of brands is amazing. For instance, plenty of parents team pretty dresses or smart dungarees with kid’s Converse - the brand name makes the style of shoe seem smarter, despite the fact it’s a casual design.

Ensure items are easy to wash

Obviously, as a parent, you want to ensure that your children’s clothes (and shoes) are easy to wash because kids get incredibly messy. They spill food down themselves. They roll around on the floor in the dirt. They doodle on their clothes with crayons. Kids love to get messy, which is why easy-to-wash clothing is a must. You want to pick pieces made from cotton, denim, and wool so that no matter how often they’re washed, they don’t wear out before your little ones have grown out of them.

There you have it, everything that you need to know about finding the perfect balance between style and practicality.

"The Reading Game" Review and Giveaway

Description: The first book in  The Reading Game  learn-to-read series tells the story of a skunk without a stripe who is rejected by the other skunks but finds acceptance among some cats and becomes their defender.  It’s told in rhyme, is beautifully illustrated, and is 32 pages long.  It will be the first book the student reads, and there are five more to follow in this groundbreaking learn to read program. Each of The Reading Game's six stories is told using just thirty new words.  These are broken down into six sets of five words.  The student learns to read each set of five words by playing a simple word matching game.  Frequent exposure through play hard wires these words into long-term memory.  Rote learning is transformed into a fast-paced game with a winner every few seconds. After completing Skunk, Game 1, the student has learned five words (can, cat, is, me, not).  Playing Game 2 adds an additional five w...

Packing for your first ski trip

Pexels - CCO Licence So, you're gearing up for your first ski trip and the excitement is as thick as the snow you're about to conquer. But before you can show off those freshly learned pizza and French fry stops, you’ve got to pack.  Packing for a ski trip can feel like preparing for a chilly expedition to the North Pole, but fear not! With these nifty tips, you'll be ready to hit the slopes in style and comfort. 1. Layer Like a Lasagna Think of your ski outfit as a gourmet lasagna: each layer is crucial. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer (yes, that includes thermal underwear) to keep you dry and snug. Over that, layer a warm and breathable mid-layer—think fleece or a wool sweater that can handle the chill. Top it all off with a waterproof and windproof jacket and pants. Remember, it's all about layers that you can add or peel off because sweating while you ski is less fun than a snowball in the face. 2. Keep Those Fingers Cosy Cold hands can ruin a...
