Four Reasons to Play College Sports in the U.S.

The university system in the U.S. is currently one of the most popular destinations in the world for higher education. In fact, upwards of 500,000 of all international students choose the U.S. as their destination of study each year, making up around 30% of the international student population worldwide. If you are considering becoming a professional sports player, then majoring in your sport at a reputable U.S. college or university could be the best first step to take towards achieving this dream. We’ve listed some of the main reasons why sporting programs are so popular in the U.S.

#1. Chance to Win a Scholarship

If you are really good at your chosen sport, there’s the chance that you’ll be able to win a scholarship to college and get your degree without the need to worry about tuition fees or borrowing student loans. On a scholarship program, you’ll be offered a fully or partly paid place on the program, allowing you to not only practice the sport that you’re majoring in but also choose from a variety of other secondary subjects to eventually earn your college degree. Along with that, becas deportivas, or sports scholarships, allow you to play competitively and are one of the best ways of becoming a competitive sports player since there’ll be many chances for you to be spotted and noticed by professional coaches and teams.

#2. College Sports is Huge

In the U.S., college sports are a huge business, with millions of dollars both invested into it and accumulated from it each year from ticket sales and merchandise by the NCAA, to name just a couple of ways in which this industry makes money. If you are hoping to play football or basketball whilst at college, for example, then these games are often broadcast to a worldwide audience, making it the perfect choice for anybody who’s really serious about their sport and wants to gain as much exposure as possible.

#3. World-Class Facilities

Another main reason why more and more international students are coming to study sports in the U.S. is that there are so many awesome, world-class facilities to choose from. Since college sports are such a big deal, you can bet that any college that takes their sporting teams seriously will also invest in state of the art gyms, sporting pitches, equipment, and even highly-trained, experienced coaches to ensure that students are given everything that they need to perform at their very best.

#4. Excellent Choice:

When it comes to the choice that students have in the U.S., universities in other countries simply don’t compare. Students at U.S. institutions have a massive array of choices and you can base your final decision on where to study on much more than their quality of sports education; there are so many diverse, different universities to choose from, giving everybody a chance to attend their perfect school.
Are you thinking of taking a sports scholarship and playing college sports in the U.S.? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.

"The Reading Game" Review and Giveaway

Description: The first book in  The Reading Game  learn-to-read series tells the story of a skunk without a stripe who is rejected by the other skunks but finds acceptance among some cats and becomes their defender.  It’s told in rhyme, is beautifully illustrated, and is 32 pages long.  It will be the first book the student reads, and there are five more to follow in this groundbreaking learn to read program. Each of The Reading Game's six stories is told using just thirty new words.  These are broken down into six sets of five words.  The student learns to read each set of five words by playing a simple word matching game.  Frequent exposure through play hard wires these words into long-term memory.  Rote learning is transformed into a fast-paced game with a winner every few seconds. After completing Skunk, Game 1, the student has learned five words (can, cat, is, me, not).  Playing Game 2 adds an additional five w...

Packing for your first ski trip

Pexels - CCO Licence So, you're gearing up for your first ski trip and the excitement is as thick as the snow you're about to conquer. But before you can show off those freshly learned pizza and French fry stops, you’ve got to pack.  Packing for a ski trip can feel like preparing for a chilly expedition to the North Pole, but fear not! With these nifty tips, you'll be ready to hit the slopes in style and comfort. 1. Layer Like a Lasagna Think of your ski outfit as a gourmet lasagna: each layer is crucial. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer (yes, that includes thermal underwear) to keep you dry and snug. Over that, layer a warm and breathable mid-layer—think fleece or a wool sweater that can handle the chill. Top it all off with a waterproof and windproof jacket and pants. Remember, it's all about layers that you can add or peel off because sweating while you ski is less fun than a snowball in the face. 2. Keep Those Fingers Cosy Cold hands can ruin a...
