How to get your family interested in their health

As a parent, one of the toughest challenges that you face is getting your entire family interested in their health and well-being, and ensuring every member follows a balanced lifestyle and increases their fitness and activity levels. The reality is that if you take your kids away from the television for more than a few minutes, you face a screaming match and some serious temper tantrums. However, getting your family interested and willing to make a change to their health and wellness should be a journey that you can all enjoy and undertake together, as remember there is no quick fix. Keep your entire experience as fun and enjoyable as possible so that your entire family will love their new and improved lifestyle.

Before undertaking any major changes at home, you may want to book your entire family in to see your local doctor or health professional for a check-up. During this consultation, you can expect to have your height, and weight checked, in addition to your blood pressure levels and even cholesterol in some cases. Worry not if your initial results are not something you are proud of, as with time and advice from experts you will see an improvement. Discuss any aches and pains during this initial consultation, and if you have a history of illness in your families such as cancer and diabetes, then it is worth mentioning this also so that you can get rid of any worries that you have and know how to spot any telltale signs.

Diet

Your kids will need to be fueled full of nutritious food and have the right balance of fats, sugars, and protein to help them to grow. If you are feeding your little ones with the foods that they love to avoid confrontation, then the chances are that you may need to rethink your approach. Get rid of any sugar and salty snacks that you have at home in your cupboards, no matter the amount of resistance that you are met with. Remember that there is no quick fix, but by trying out different methods like these lifestyle tips then your family will gradually wake up to the benefits of eating well. Explain to your little ones that they can enjoy a treat but not every day. Ensure that your children are leaving the house with a stomach full of delicious breakfast, ideal for setting them up for the day. Try oatmeal or making your own muesli and get your kids to choose their own healthy toppings. You could also get baking and try getting your entire family involved in cooking their own healthy breakfast muffins also. It is crucial that your entire family eats well and does not skip meals so that they can perform their best in their day-to-day lives. Try and eat dinner together as a family so that you can all spend quality time together and discuss any worries or concerns that your kids may have. By making a few changes to your family diet, you will notice that you all have much more energy and may even feel less cranky and tired also.

Exercise

Even if your kids are not naturals when it comes to team sports and getting out and about, you can still make a few changes so that your entire family will look forward to working out and getting in shape together. Kids naturally have loads of energy, and you will not need to spend a small fortune on a series of gym memberships to ensure that your entire family soon loves your efforts to help them to move more. Try putting on some music on a rainy day and getting your entire clan to dance and jump around the living room together. Another great way to get your kids more active is to gradually introduce an afternoon or evening walk or bike ride around your neighborhood, meaning that your little ones will soon look forward to this and view it as a better treat than ice cream or candy. During the warmer months then why not get your kids involved in helping you prepare a healthy picnic, load up the car and head to your local, national park to try hiking and horse riding with your family. Not only may you all lose a few pounds, but your kids will also soon begin to view exercise as a normal and essential part of their daily routine, ideal as they progress into adulthood.

Spend time together

No matter how busy you are with work, or how stressed you are feeling after a long hard day at the office, healthy families should always take time to relax and unwind together. From getting your kids involved in preparing your evening meal or setting the table, to trying out having your own family cookout or board game night, you can be as creative as you like when it comes to encouraging your entire family to spend quality time all together. You could also ask your kids which activities that they would like to try out most also so that your entire family feels involved in your new and improved schedule and routine.

If you feel that your family is not interested in their health and wellness, then there are a few ways that you can try to make lasting changes to your diet, lifestyle and exercise routine. Try getting your kids more involved in your meal planning and be sure to welcome them into the kitchen to try out different healthy recipes. Make sure that you explore different ways that you can all move more and workout together as a family also. Finally, be sure to plan in some quality time all together as a family, so that you can develop those close bonds and provide a safe and open space in which you can discuss any concerns or issues. Over time, your family will take these changes as second nature, and you will all be leading a much more balanced and healthy way of life as a result.

"The Reading Game" Review and Giveaway

Description: The first book in  The Reading Game  learn-to-read series tells the story of a skunk without a stripe who is rejected by the other skunks but finds acceptance among some cats and becomes their defender.  It’s told in rhyme, is beautifully illustrated, and is 32 pages long.  It will be the first book the student reads, and there are five more to follow in this groundbreaking learn to read program. Each of The Reading Game's six stories is told using just thirty new words.  These are broken down into six sets of five words.  The student learns to read each set of five words by playing a simple word matching game.  Frequent exposure through play hard wires these words into long-term memory.  Rote learning is transformed into a fast-paced game with a winner every few seconds. Packing for your first ski trip

Pexels - CCO Licence So, you're gearing up for your first ski trip and the excitement is as thick as the snow you're about to conquer. But before you can show off those freshly learned pizza and French fry stops, you’ve got to pack.  Packing for a ski trip can feel like preparing for a chilly expedition to the North Pole, but fear not! With these nifty tips, you'll be ready to hit the slopes in style and comfort. 1. Layer Like a Lasagna Think of your ski outfit as a gourmet lasagna: each layer is crucial. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer (yes, that includes thermal underwear) to keep you dry and snug. Over that, layer a warm and breathable mid-layer—think fleece or a wool sweater that can handle the chill. Top it all off with a waterproof and windproof jacket and pants. Remember, it's all about layers that you can add or peel off because sweating while you ski is less fun than a snowball in the face. 2. Keep Those Fingers Cosy Cold hands can ruin a...
