Heart Hunters 2020

We have our hearts up!  Do you?   I love showing hope for others to see!

Book Review: "Stand- Up Guys -50 Christian Men who Changed the World

Testimony time is one of my favorite things at church!   We give people the opportunity to share what God is doing in their lives.  This book reminds me of testimony time.  I love being able to read how God has used different people from all over the world to help grow his kingdom!   I asked my son which story was his favorite so far as we aren't all the way through it yet.  He picked Tony Dungy!   Not too surprising because he loves football!   This one is also more relate-able because he is still alive today where several of the men in this book have already passed away.  Either way we still think this is a great book!  WE think it would make a great addition to anyone's Easter basket!   Thanks Zondervan for sending this book for free in exchange for an honest review.  I was not paid for this review and all opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Covid-19 Church Service

What should the pastors do when Covid-19 shuts down the church building?   Well we made a tent in the middle of the sanctuary and watched inside with comfy pillows and blankets.   It was more like the balloon said, "Party."   We turned lemons into lemonade!  While my husband was not used to preaching to a quiet room we still provided distractions having the tent in the middle of the room.

My Covid-19 Birthday

How old am I again?  Thirty something!   Darn Covid-19 has us getting creative for my birthday too  It truly was a great day for me.  We had takeout from a new Mexican restaurant. Then I had sweet notes and a dance party!   The dance party even had amazing glow balloons!  Then we followed it up with some praise and Worship time!  It was a great day!

Titus Turns 9

This birthday is one we will remember for ever!  I put my mom hat on and worked hard to create a birthday that we would treasure forever.   Since it is Covid-19 we were not allowed to plan a birthday party or see friends.   So our day consisted of many things!   Birthday Door Decoration!  Asking friends and family to drive by and honk!!!   Monopoly- his request Google Hang Meetings- 2 set up!  Even his teacher showed up!  Lazer Tag in the church!    We also still had breakfast donuts!   Had Scratch cupcakes that I had ordered weeks prior!    I think we succeeded in making memories and during a worldwide shutdown we had a great time!

Moldy Bread Experiment

My students have enjoyed the "Moldy Bread Experiment."  We learned a lot and made some good observations each week.   First, we are worried about preservatives because our store purchased bread never got any mold!   Second, we realized that we need to clean our surfaces more in the classroom!  Last, we used social skills and turn taking throughout each week while we made observations.

Book Review and GIVEAWAY: Resilient: Child Discipleship and the Fearless Future of the Church

ABOUT THE BOOK As new research continues to show, the cultural gap between secularism and the convictional Church continues to widen. KidMin and youth leaders are asking, “Are we adequately discipling today’s kids to lead the future of the church in a culture that’s becoming increasingly hostile to the gospel?” For many, the answer is “no,” and a new conversation around making Resilient disciples is emerging.  Resilient  is an honest calling to ask robust questions about the future; it is a timely conversation in the midst of changing cultural landscapes; and it’s a love letter to KidMin leaders and disciple-makers to walk this road of child discipleship together. Resilient child discipleship focuses on three key areas, essential for shaping long-term faith: Belonging – Highly relational ministry led by a loving and caring adult Believing – Deeply Scriptural ministry rooted in the truth of God’s Word and the power of the gospel Becoming – Truly experiential ministry...
