Win Free Movie Tickets to "The Hill" (Movie Review) #thehill #thehillfilm #inspriationalfilm #movie #mustsee

Synopsis:  Growing up impoverished in small-town Texas, young Rickey Hill shows an extraordinary ability for hitting a baseball, despite being burdened by leg braces from a degenerative spinal disease.  His concerned pastor father (DENNIS QUAID) discourages Rickey from playing baseball to protect him from injury, and to have him follow in his footsteps and become a preacher.  As a young man, Rickey (COLIN FORD) becomes a baseball phenomenon.  His desire to participate in a try-out for a legendary major league scout divides the family and threatens Rickey’s dream of playing professional baseball.  Based on a true story, THE HILL is directed by Jeff Celentano and also stars JOELLE CARTER, country music singer and songwriter RANDY HOUSER, Golden Globe nominee BONNIE BEDELIA, and SCOTT GLENN.

My Review
Summer time is running out with back to school in full swing.  However a good summer can't be complete without a great baseball movie.   "The Hill" will be released August 25th so be sure to check your theatre!  If there is a drive in theater near you I would see if this film will be there before they close for the season!
Thank you to Frontgate Media for giving me a free screening of this movie so I could give my honest review.  All opinions expressed are 100% my own, I was not paid for this review.

A baseball movie combined with a true story is what captured my attention to this movie.   Rickey Hill has a fantastic story of overcoming the doubters but also recognizing healing.  It was clear to see there were many struggles for the Hill family, however the family drama is also paired with faith elements.   As a believer I enjoy seeing more films that display Christian principles.  With that said it was also hard to see how the father/pastor failed in a few areas.   One area in the movie that I found frustrating was Ricky's pastor/father who lacked in faith to believe in his own son!   He never fully supported his son till at the end when he finally had a heart check that led him to humility and fully supporting his son.   I can understand that male and father role of wanting to protect your son but he lacked the ability to trust God with healing him and seeing a passion in his son that was a God given talent.   I am curious if the way his dad was portrayed was accurate or just to make the movie more dramatic.

I am also a special education teacher and part of my mission in life is to help people see they have value and gold in them even if they have a struggle or something to overcome.  I like to push people to do their best and help support their dreams so watching this movie really hit those same feels.  I found myself thinking "you can do this" "let's go"  "Go God Go"   and so many more.

Make some time to hear this neat story!   Get ready to see a dream become reality for Ricky!

"The Reading Game" Review and Giveaway

Description: The first book in  The Reading Game  learn-to-read series tells the story of a skunk without a stripe who is rejected by the other skunks but finds acceptance among some cats and becomes their defender.  It’s told in rhyme, is beautifully illustrated, and is 32 pages long.  It will be the first book the student reads, and there are five more to follow in this groundbreaking learn to read program. Each of The Reading Game's six stories is told using just thirty new words.  These are broken down into six sets of five words.  The student learns to read each set of five words by playing a simple word matching game.  Frequent exposure through play hard wires these words into long-term memory.  Rote learning is transformed into a fast-paced game with a winner every few seconds. After completing Skunk, Game 1, the student has learned five words (can, cat, is, me, not).  Playing Game 2 adds an additional five w...

Packing for your first ski trip

Pexels - CCO Licence So, you're gearing up for your first ski trip and the excitement is as thick as the snow you're about to conquer. But before you can show off those freshly learned pizza and French fry stops, you’ve got to pack.  Packing for a ski trip can feel like preparing for a chilly expedition to the North Pole, but fear not! With these nifty tips, you'll be ready to hit the slopes in style and comfort. 1. Layer Like a Lasagna Think of your ski outfit as a gourmet lasagna: each layer is crucial. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer (yes, that includes thermal underwear) to keep you dry and snug. Over that, layer a warm and breathable mid-layer—think fleece or a wool sweater that can handle the chill. Top it all off with a waterproof and windproof jacket and pants. Remember, it's all about layers that you can add or peel off because sweating while you ski is less fun than a snowball in the face. 2. Keep Those Fingers Cosy Cold hands can ruin a...
